Earlier work

  • Grandparents and family size. How grandparents affect children's education and how becoming a grandparent affects well-being, and when family size matters for children's outcomes. This work grew out of the ERC-funded Family Size Matters project at Oxford.
  • Childhood environments and life history. Father absence, family disruption, puberty and reproductive timing, from my PhD and the work that followed it.
  • Child growth across cultures. A five-country comparison of how family size, household size and birth order relate to child growth, in preparation.
  • Evolutionary medicine and public health. Teaching, a seminar series and a review of evolution in public health.
